Responsible for the direct oversight of the company’s Eastern Regional Telecom OSP network including Progress Energy’s optical network in Florida and the Carolinas. Directly responsible for maintaining the long haul regeneration sites in Florida and Georgia along with coordinating maintenance for ‘joint’ sites throughout Progress Energy’s regional footprint. Managed all physical plant projects, including POP site construction totaling over $100M in capital costs. In addition, directly responsible for OSP engineering, construction, site maintenance and project management. Helped develop project managers by working with them to develop project plans, timelines and objectives.  Fostered an enjoyable work environment while working on multiple complex and diverse projects. Performed semi-annual employee evaluations. Responsible for PM/CM of the company’s OSP projects including; Site acquisition, Landlord negotiations, civil work & construction of long haul regeneration sites for projects located throughout the state of Florida. Scope of projects managed: Florida long haul network, metro fiber optic rings, end user entrance facilities and associated POP construction build outs. Liaison to Adelphia Cable Upgrade Department to help coordinate the Hybrid Fiber/Coax broadband upgrade design and implementation. Responsibilities included: Provide direction and supervision of employees, contractors and subcontractors as needed to ensure projects were being completed in accordance with company strategic plans/goals, on time and within budgetary constraints according to the project specifications, proactively preventing and resolving potential cost overages and delays.  Directed engineering, permitting and construction associated with the physical plant, dark fiber & conduit leasing, day one installation, collocation, turn-up and test of the optical network.  Responsible for maintaining the OSP network, which included working closely with multiple carriers, electric utility companies, telecommunication carriers, local and state agencies, end users, occupants and landlords throughout the State of Florida.  On call 24/7 for emergency restoration (99.999% network availability).  Note; Hyperion was spun into Telcove and then was purchased by Level 3.

Directly responsible for the construction of the company’s fiber optic network upgrade and Telecom backbone.  Direct oversight for the build out of over 3,600 linear miles of Optical Plant in a three-year period throughout Florida.  Worked with Progress Energy, FP&L, OUC, Sumter Electric, KUA, TECO, multiple City, County & State permitting agencies. Coordinated design and placement of actives, passives and power supplies throughout the network. QC/QA construction and restoration of ROW and customer complaints. Reduced the division’s reportable accidents by proactively reinforcing a “Safety First” philosophy while conducting monthly Safety meetings.

Responsible for RF and Optical engineering, construction, restoration, make ready mapping, permitting and oversight of fiber optic network upgrade, including construction of hub sites and power upgrades throughout the Metro area. Designed, constructed and spliced fiber and coaxial system. Served as the company’s site acquisition manager in obtaining easements and various property documents necessary to facilitate project development and completion. Served as the company’s safety trainer for a workforce in excess of 125 professional, technical and field personnel.
